During the early stages of formation, the emerging faith community at Fairfield prayed about whether we should become part of a recognised stream of faith within the Christian community. We felt it is important that the church has meaningful relationship with other parts of the body of Christ and were happy to join with the Baptist Union of Great Britain (BUGB) and the Central Baptist Association. This provides Fairfield Community Church and its leadership with support when needed, whilst remaining an independent congregation, responsible for determining the will of Christ in our own locality.
As part of the BUGB we adopted the Baptist Union constitution, but were mindful of the fact that there is no other expression of church on the development currently and therefore the need to be inclusive, not exclusive. To this end the church has adopted an open membership and actively seeks to remove barriers wherever possible to people exploring their walk of faith with us.
