‘He [God] raised him [Christ] from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every title that can be given, not only in the present age but also in the one to come. And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way.’ (Eph 1:20-23)
We believe that Jesus, not any human is head of the Church both globally and locally. When Jesus said ‘I will build my church’ (Matthew 16:18), he indicated that he was going to create a new community of people whose characteristic feature would be unswerving loyalty to him.
As ‘living stones’ in God’s house we each have our place. Just as there is a certain order to house construction so God has placed different people with different gifts in each church, in order to bring glory and honour to him (1 Timothy 3:15).
We believe that church leaders are called to exercise their authority in a spirit of humility and service, whilst allowing God to be in charge of the church. We believe that God wants his Church to have apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers (Ephesians 4:11), we believe that all these ministries are in existence today and did not die out with the New Testament Church (Ephesians 4:12-13).
The overall leadership in the church is the responsibility of the Leadership Team, which includes those who are also called Bishops or Overseers and Pastors/Shepherds in the New Testament. For a person to qualify as a Leader they must fulfil the requirements listed in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9. We feel that Leaders carry the spiritual responsibility for the church and the individuals who make up the church.
Currently at Fairfield Community Church the Leadership Team consists of
Miss Allison Jack
Mrs Mandy Morton
Mrs Lynda Lewington
These people also act as church trustees.
